JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Michigan Recycling Coalition is seeking a self-motivated, collaborative problem-solver and effective communicator to join our team as a Training and Community Outreach Coordinator. Working under the supervision of the Executive Director and Education Program Coordinator, the Outreach Coordinator will be focused on implementing the MRC's Recycling Education and Outreach grant through the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), but will also include support for Coalition business, including but not limited to administrative and logistical duties as assigned.
LOCATION:
Lansing, MI
Primarily remote, although office space is available and quarterly meetings at the Lansing office, travel throughout Michigan, is required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct research to ensure best practices for community recycling education training and campaigns.
- Conduct research and analytics to inform, develop, and evaluate educational programming.
- Oversee, organize, prepare, and present training materials and programs for both professional and community-based audiences.
- Assist the Education Program Coordinator in direct outreach and support of EPA Justice40 communities to develop and deliver recycling education programming.
- Develop, coordinate, and maintain digital and physical records and write progress reports on grant activities for the US EPA.
- Support monitoring and maintenance of organizational website(s) and digital communications.
- Maintain a calendar to coordinate workflow and meetings.
- Interact professionally with the MRC Board, members, contractors, staff, and stakeholders.
- Support growth of the MRC, its mission, vision, goals, and objectives.
- Other duties as assigned.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE MUST:
- Be self-driven, communicative, and excited to join a dynamic, dependable team of recycling leaders.
- Have strong communication skills, including technical writing.
- Understand how to create, modify, and manage documents through Google Workspace, Canva, and other web-based applications.
- Have experience with database management and research/analytics.
- Have experience with event planning and logistics.
- Have knowledge of and interest in recycling/composting industries.
- Be willing to travel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possession of a bachelor's degree in environmental studies, resource management, environmental education, or a related field of study.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
WAGE RANGE:
Full-time position, starting pay is $22.50 per hour. Health and retirement benefits provided. Increases considered annually.
